Mrs. Leana Howard

Hello Elnora School Families, 

My name is Leana Howard and I am new to Elnora and Chinook's Edge  this year. I have been an educator in many capacities for  almost 30 years! I spent the last 28 years in the Trochu area teaching, working as an instructional coach and being the Principal of Trochu School. 

I am thrilled to be here in Elnora. I absolutely love small schools and all of the extra perks that come with being so small. I have always called my students my kids and I am the proud "parent" of 75 new children! My favourite times during the day are in front of and beside the students in my classroom. Watching them all succeed is my goal and provides me with immense pride and satisfaction.

Outside of school I am a proud wife to a retired teacher, proud Mom to two awesome adults, super proud Nana to three sweet grandchildren and puppy Mom to my biggest baby, Wilbur. I love to read, snowmobile, workout, go for long walks with my dog and binge watch Netflix during my "down times". Our family likes to snowmobile, travel and camp. I enjoy spending time with friends and family but also spending quiet nights at home. 

I am a collector of positive quotes and my current favourite is one I repeat daily to myself, my family and my school kids, "Do the best you can until you know better, then when you know better, do better." Maya Anjelou. I always only ask of my students and myself, do the best you can. If you make a mistake, learn from it and do better moving forward.
